Rom 12:3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.
KJV
How highly men tend to think of themselves. We know this to be true in the natural realm as men and women alike tout and brag on what they have done. Just listen to the politicians today and you see that clearly. But how highly should we think of ourselves? The Bible warns of that especially in the spiritual realm. Many years ago when I was leaving a job that I held for over ten years I was wondering how my employer could find someone to do all that I had been doing for them. I got my answer when that company hired no one to replace me. We need to be even more careful in the spiritual as many come to the conclusion that God cannot get alone without them. Our God is perfectly capable of getting along without us and we need to be careful not to think more highly of ourselves than we ought. When God graciously allows you to be a part of His work, when God graciously blesses the work you are involved in, be sure to give Him the glory and the praise. Not some, all of the glory and praise for without Him we can do nothing.
