Matt 6:9 – 15 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. 10?Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. 11?Give us this day our daily bread. 12?And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. 13?And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. 14?For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: 15?But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

The phrase “our father” or “our fathers” is found over 400 times in the Bible. It is used by the people of Israel, by kings, by poor men, and by those who do not know anything about God. But it is never uses in any more blessed way that when a Christian says :our Father” or “my Father”. Think of that for a moment and what it implies. That we have a Father in heaven, that we can have a close and personal relationship with the God of heaven through His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. Many people repeat the above prayer who do not know the Lord, who have no relationship with God at all. They repeat those words in hopes that the words will bring them that relationship. But for the born again believer in Christ, for the Christians, for those redeemed by the blood of the Lamb, we have that relationship. We can call God our Father. And if we can call Him Father we can be close to Him. How close are you to God today? Are you going to talk with Him this morning? Are you going to allow Him to talk with you. What are you doing with the truth that you have a Father in heaven? Christian, take some time today and think of what it means to you to be able to call God your Father.
