John 21:11-12 Simon Peter went up, and drew the net to land full of great fishes, and hundred and fifty and three: and for all there were so many, yet was not the net broken.
12 Jesus saith unto them, Come and dine. And none of the disciples durst ask him, Who art thou? knowing that it was the Lord.
KJV
Come and dine the mater calleth come and dine as the old hymn states. But how few today wish to dine with Jesus? The Word of God can be easily found today, there is no shortage of Bibles in America, but how many dine upon the Word of God on a regular basis? Not many it seems as our nation plunges deeper and deeper into sin. How many professing Christians choose to allow their Bible to go untouched until the next Sunday service comes around? Yet the same call that went out to the disciples over the water that day goes out to us “Come and dine”. Will you dine upon the Word of God today? Will you spend time in meditation upon what you read? Do you desire to hear from God today? In our text passage this morning it was after Peter answered the invitation to come and dine that he was commissioned anew by our Lord. Will you choose to come and dine?
