Heb 4:9-11 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.
10 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.
11 Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.
KJV
Have you found that rest in the Lord today? We find many passages in the Bible that seem to present a contrast like that above. There is rest promised. (Verse 9) I am to cease from work. (Verse 10) Then I am to labor to enter into that rest. (Verse 11) How do I cease from work and yet labor to find rest? We find that rest when we stop depending upon self and trust fully and completely in the Lord Jesus Christ. That at times takes labor within as we must set self aside and lift up Jesus Christ. There are many things we go through that we cannot fix in this life. I know what it is to have health problems in self and family, I know what it is to lose loved ones, I know what it is to worry over children and grandchildren, I know what it is to have financial problems, I have experienced betrayal, I know what it is to feel sorrow and heartache, I know what it is to feel all alone, and I also know that I have never really been all alone and that there has been one there with me every step of the way to carry me through those difficult times. There are times I must labor within to trust completely in His love and care for me, to trust in His will. That at times takes much labor but it is labor that is rewarded in sweet rest in Jesus. How much do you trust Jesus today to take care of you? Labor for that rest and you will find it as well.
