January 13th, 2011 by Pastor SolleyJohn 5:1-6 fter this there was a feast of the Jews; and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. 2?Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda, having five porches. 3?In these lay a great multitude of impotent folk, of blind, halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water. 4?For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had. 5?And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years. 6?When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole?
How many people do you know who need Jesus Christ? There were many beside this pool who needed Jesus. So many waited here for the water to be moved so they could be healed if they could just be first to touch it. Yet here we see one who had no person to him. 38 years he was in need, so many years hoping and not finding anyone to help him. That is until Jesus came and as you read on in the account this man is healed. But I wonder today how much an effort we make to help those in need find Jesus Christ. People were all around this pool waiting for the water to be troubled by the angel. Today people stand in troubled waters waiting for a calm, waiting for help. We have the answer that they need, we have Jesus Christ Christian. All this man needed was someone to lead him to the water. All the lost today need is someone to lead them to Christ. I wonder are we like the many who simply ignored this man, or will we stop and ask, “wilt thou be made hole?”
