Ps 62:5 My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him.
KJV
We set our expectations in the Lord, now do we really believe God is able to meet our needs? Jesus promised to answer prayer many times and we see the promise of answered prayer throughout both the Old and New Testaments as well as miracles as the result of prayer. We also find these things. (Matt 17:19-20 Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out? 20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. ; Matt 21:21-22
Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done. 22 And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.) God’s power and ability to answer prayer is NOT based upon our faith or belief, yet God does want me to believe that He is able and to place complete faith and trust in Him. Do I really believe God is able, do I really trust that He does all things well? The disciples in Matthew 20 tried to cast out a demon but did not truly believe that God’s power was resting upon them to do it and they could not. In chapter 21 Jesus tells us we must believe that He is able. Place your expectations in the right one and believe that He is able.
(Jer 33:2 Thus saith the Lord the maker thereof, the Lord that formed it, to establish it; the Lord is his name;) That does not mean that every prayer will be answered in the exact way that we want but it does mean that God hears and will answer according to His perfect will.
