Col 3:15-16 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.
16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
KJV
Another way to allow the peace of God to rule in your heart is through the sound old hymns of the faith. “Psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.” Not the new music that appeals to the flesh, not the seven eleven songs that move the flesh but do nothing for the soul and spirit, the old and sound hymns of the faith. “My soul in sad exile was out on life’s sea, so burdened with sin and distressed”. Many are the times like the hymn writer that I have fled to the “Heaven of Rest” “As of ole He walked to Emmaus, with them to abide, so through all life’s way He walketh, ever near our side”. Many times I have found comfort in “Yesterday, Today, Forever”. “Sometimes mid scenes of deepest gloom, sometimes where Eden’e bowers bloom, by waters calm, o’re troubled sea, still tis His hand that leadeth me”. Many times when questions I can’t answer seem to come over me I am thankful that “He Leadeth me”. Those old, sound, blessed hymns of the faith can help us allow the peace of God to rule in our hearts.
