John 4:4-10 And he must needs go through Samaria.
5 Then cometh he to a city of Samaria, which is called Sychar, near to the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph.
6 Now Jacob’s well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well: and it was about the sixth hour.
7 There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink.
8 (For his disciples were gone away unto the city to buy meat.)
9 Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.
10 Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.
Now we come to one who is at a well and they will not stop it up or pour the water out onto the ground. Finally we come to one who will find water at the well and not waste it. Finally we come to one who will find the living water of eternal life in Jesus Christ. Isaac has to dig again the wells because the Philistines stopped them up hurting themselves as they fought against God. Elijah saw the false prophets pour out water that they desperately needed in fighting against God. But this woman who needed water is going to find water we all need, living water in Jesus Christ. Are you in need of water today? Will you pour yourself a drink and then pour it on the ground? Will you go to that place where you can get water and make it impossible to draw? What will you do with the living water in front of you today? The Philistines did not want Jehovah, the false prophets did not want Jehovah and they wasted the water they needed. But that woman who came to the well quenched the thirst of her soul. What will you do with Jesus Christ today, will you receive the living water of eternal life? If you have eternal life, will you share that water with others?
