Gen 24:63 And Isaac went out to meditate in the field at the eventide: and he lifted up his eyes, and saw, and, behold, the camels were coming.
1 Tim 4:15 Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all.
KJV
The first and last uses of the word meditate in the Bible are in our text today. In the first we see one rewarded and I am sure Isaac was meditating upon the things of God. In the last we find a command to meditate upon the things of God. Do you ever take time to just stop and meditate upon the things of God, to just sit silently before the Lord? People are so rushed today and have so many things to do and when there is nothing to do they still do much. The Bible speaks of people in the last days running to and fro and not in a good way. Do you ever take the time to sit and wait, to sit before the Lord and just meditate upon the things of God? I find myself in need of time to just sit and wait, to just give my mind to the Lord. Isaac was waiting for a bride and God rewarded him, Timothy was beginning a ministry and God was commanding Him. With people so rushed today, with our lives so busy, we need time to just sit before the Lord. Take some time today to read His Word, take some time to pray, but also take some time to just sit silently before the Lord thinking upon the things of God. You will find yourself rewarded as Isaac was when we obey the command to meditate as Timothy did.
