John 21:12 Jesus saith unto them, Come and dine. And none of the disciples durst ask him, Who art thou? knowing that it was the Lord.
KJV
I have not counted as I am sure others have the number of words Jesus spake in this world that are recorded in our KJV Bible. Many of those words of course bring much comfort to the heart of the redeemed and all of them are important. John chapters fourteen through seventeen are some of my favorite chapters in the Bible and most of the words recorded in those chapters are from Jesus. But consider the three words in our text this morning, “Come and dine”. What powerful words, what encouraging words, what comforting words. Jesus was speaking to those who had a short time before deserted Him, to one who had openly denied Him, to one who doubted Him and Jesus called out to them “Come and dine”. Those words are for His children today, “Come and dine”. Even when we may have disappointed our Lord, as I have done many times, Jesus calls out “Come and dine”. Even when we allow doubts and fears to creep into our lives Jesus calls out “Come and dine”. There is never a time when Jesus does not want us to come to Him, to spend time with Him, when that voice stops calling out to us “Come and dine”. What a blessing that is to me today to know that at this very moment and all through this day Jesus is calling out “Come and dine”. Will you do what the disciples did when they heard those words, will you come and dine with Jesus today?
