Mark 6:31 And he said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while: for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat.
2 Thess 3:10 For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.
KJV
Rest and work, there must be a balance between the two in our lives. Our bodies need rest, our minds need rest, our soul needs to rest. Yet we need to work and many places in the Bible we are commanded to work as we see above. What is the answer? There needs to be a balance, a proper balance, between work and rest. But even as we rest our bodies we are never to stop our spiritual work. Jesus said “I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.” What can we do when we are at rest that allows us to continue in our spiritual work? We can pray while we rest. We can meditate upon the things of God while we rest. We can give thanks while we rest. We can just joy in the Lord while we rest. I find that when the disciples went apart to rest that they did not depart from Jesus. Want to find some sweet rest? Instead of turning on social media, or the TV, or playing games on the cell phone turn all of those things off and just rest quietly and silently before the Lord. You will be surprised how rested you feel when you rest in the Lord.
