Matt 15:22-28 And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou Son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.
23 But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.
24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
25 Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.
26 But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children’s bread, and to cast it to dogs.
27 And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.
28 Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.

My thoughts turn to Mother’s Day this week as that special day is set aside to honor mothers this coming Sunday. My own mother has been a long time in heaven now but I think of her often and thank Jesus for the Godly mother I had. This week we consider the above verses and the mother we find in them. First and most important we find a mother that worshiped the Lord Jesus Christ. (Verse 25) She had a great need, her daughter was possessed of a devil. (Verse 22) But she came to Jesus, not to demand of Him, not to order Him, not to blame Him, she came to worship Him. A great part of worship is submission. Worship is acknowledgment, worship is praise, but worship is also submission. I see this woman submissive to the will of God and that after she was seemingly turned away from Jesus and her request denied. (Verses 22-24) One of the greatest qualities of a Godly mother is her submission to and worship of the Lord Jesus Christ. The first picture of my mother that comes to mind is of her sitting with her King James Bible in her lap reading and then folding her hands in prayer and thanking God for all things and praising Him. She was one who worshiped the Lord Jesus Christ. A Godly mother will be found in worship before the Lord.
