John 17:15 I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.
KJV
Why are we as believers in Christ in this world, what is our purpose? Several things can be taken from this prayer of Jesus that point to our purpose in this world. One of them being to glorify God the Father in all that we do. (John 17:1-4 These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee:
2 As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him. 3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. 4 I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.) Jesus did glorify His Father in all that He did in this world and most especially in finishing the work the Father gave Him to do. Will you glorify your heavenly Father today in what you do? Will you do all to the glory of God? Will you by your actions, words, and thoughts bring glory to God? That is part of your purpose in this world dear brother or sister in Christ. How did you do yesterday in bringing glory to God? Would someone look at you and know that you are a Christian, know there is something different about you? Did the things you thought about draw you closer to your heavenly Father? Did you have a kind word for someone, do a kind deed? Did you tell someone about Jesus, leave a gospel tract? We are still here that we might bring glory to the Father in all that we do. How are we doing?
