Rom 1:10-12 Making request, if by any means now at length I might have a prosperous journey by the will of God to come unto you.
11 For I long to see you, that I may impart unto you some spiritual gift, to the end ye may be established;
12 That is, that I may be comforted together with you by the mutual faith both of you and me.
KJV
Paul had a longing and was praying for the fellowship with those of like precious faith. Why? Paul needed the comfort that comes with that fellowship, needed the strength that comes with that fellowship. That is something we need more and more in these last days. It is also something that is for the most part neglected and ignored by the professing Christian today. The Bible states in the last days that the church would have little strength and that is not a compliment. Jesus gave the church power, the Holy Spirit gives power, but that power seems to be lacking today and it is not because God has diminished or the Holy Spirit has vanished to this point. But the professing believer has decided that others things are more important than coming together with those of like faith. Social media has no problem attracting people. The TV has no problem attracting people. The sporting event has no problem attracting people. But the church house often stands empty. Paul was asking for the will of God to allow him to fellowship with those ones. Paul needed comfort and Paul needed strength. Why do so many today think that they have went well and beyond that great man of God and they don’t need the fellowship of believers?
