Matt 26:39 And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.
KJV
The question I am going to ask this morning is not true of Jesus and never had to be asked concerning Jesus. Jesus was a man of prayer. I have been asked by some if Jesus had to pray and they miss the point, Jesus did pray and Jesus was a man of prayer and the following question never needed to be asked of Jesus. How far do you try and go before you stop and pray? Is it to the point where you fall on your face to pray because you have tried everything else? Have you been so worn down and so worn out that you finally fall and pray? How far do you go before you stop and pray? Why not pray first and let all in the capable hands of Jesus? If prayer is the most powerful thing available to us, and it is, why not pray first? If Jesus is able to do the impossible, and He can, why not pray first? If prayer can move mountains, and it does, why not pray first? If prayer is the cure for worry then why not pray first? With prayer all things are possible so why not pray first? I write this knowing that God does answer prayer and at the same time knowing that our prayer life is something that Satan will attack trying to move us away from what we need the most in this world which is that closeness with our heavenly Father through our savior the Lord Jesus Christ through prayer. Why not pray? Take the time today to shut everything else out, move into that special closet of prayer, fall down before the God of heaven and ask Him to do the impossible. Why not pray first?
