13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
15 These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.

Why did Jesus Christ die for us, why did Jesus give Himself for us, why pay the price for our sins? The obvious answer is that Jesus died so that we might have eternal life. That is true, Jesus died to save us from hell and offer to any and all who will repent and believe upon Him eternal life. But there is much more involved in the sacrifice of Christ. A few things we will consider over this week. Number one, Christ did to redeem us from all iniquity. (Titus 2:14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.) This goes beyond forgiveness of sin in that we have been bought back from a lifestyle of sin. As born again believers in Christ we no longer have to live trapped by the actions of sin. (Titus 2:12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;) Does the drug addict enjoy being addicted to those drugs? Does the alcoholic enjoy being addicted to the alcohol? What of others who cannot seem to get away from other sins? Do they enjoy seeing sin destroy their lives? I can’t imagine the answer to those questions would be yes. Why not stop? Because of the grip Satan has upon them and the grip those sins have as well. But the child of God does not have to stay in sin, he or she has been redeemed, bought back and set free from sin. (Rom 6:22
But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.) What ever may have a hold on one who receives Jesus as their savior no longer needs to bind them, they have been redeemed from all iniquity. What ever it may be dear brother or sister in Christ, give it to Him and allow His power to set you free.
