If I have received eternal life in Jesus Christ by forgiveness of sin by His shed blood on the cross and my repentance from sin and turning to Him I am granted certain things according to His Word. I now have an eternal inheritance. (Heb 9:15 And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.) An inheritance is something left to another and most often after death. As believers in Christ we have been granted an inheritance because of His death on the cross and our faith and trust in Him. Most of this inheritance is laid up in heaven and is waiting for us but there is part of this that is almost like a trust. I can draw on it now as I sit at the feet of Jesus in prayer and study of His Word. I can draw on it now as I walk in His presence. I can draw on it now as I follow His will for my life. But unlike a trust I can never exhaust this inheritance. No matter how much I draw from my inheritance now there is more waiting for me in heaven. Do you have an inheritance waiting for you? If not then you need to come to Jesus Christ for that free pardon of sin and allow Him to lay up for you in heaven an eternal inheritance.
