January 4th, 2023 by Pastor Solley1 Cor 2:1-5 And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God.
2 For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.
3 And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling.
4 And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:
5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.

Paul did not come to those at Corinth in excellency of speech nor did he come with enticing words. (Verse four.) That word enticing here means to try and convince by argument something true or false or to try and pacify another and bring them to a conclusion. It is to use any means necessary. The gospel message is not to be presented in that way, Christ is not to be presented in that way. That is what our politicians do today as they present a message in any way that they can, true or not, to get people to side with them. Or they promise things they knew they can never deliver to pacify people. Sad to say the same thinking has been used by many who claim to be doing God’s work. But those things are tools of the devil and not of God. Paul simply presented the gospel. He did not try and pacify those who refused Christ or argue with them. Paul did reason with people and so should we as we try and present the gospel message. But we never need to change the message or try and pacify those who reject it. We just need depend upon the power of God and that power seen in our lives today. What brought you to salvation? Did someone argue with you so long that you finally gave in just to keep them quiet? Did someone change the message in order to pacify you? If the answer to those is yes then you are not born again. We are born again by the power of God and that is the message we need to share today.
