Ps 31:15-17 My times are in thy hand: deliver me from the hand of mine enemies, and from them that persecute me.
16 Make thy face to shine upon thy servant: save me for thy mercies’ sake.
17 Let me not be ashamed, O Lord; for I have called upon thee: let the wicked be ashamed, and let them be silent in the grave.
KJV
One last thing about Psalm 31 as we head into a New Year and this from verse seventeen. Why is it that the Christian, the born again believer in Jesus Christ, the one who has eternal life, the one who can place his or her life in the hands of the living God seems to be the voice that is most silent today? I hear everyday the voice of the wicked crying out, I hear the voices of those who should be silent about the evil that they engage in, but seldom is the voice of the Christian heard. David makes a request before the Lord, “Let me not be ashamed”. Those apart from Christ need to hear about Christ. Those lost and dying in sin need to hear about the forgiveness of Jesus Christ and His shed blood. Those who are held captive by sin and addition need to heart about the power of Jesus Christ to set them free. Who will tell them, what voice needs to be lifted up? Our voices and may this be a year that our voices are heard, may this be a year we tell more people about Jesus and what He has done for us. May this be the year we are not ashamed.
