Ps 31:15-16 My times are in thy hand: deliver me from the hand of mine enemies, and from them that persecute me.
16 Make thy face to shine upon thy servant: save me for thy mercies’ sake.
Ps 31:24 Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the Lord.
KJV
Could it be that in this one Psalm which we have looked at all week we could find the words that can carry us through whatever this New Year has in store for us? That answer is yes and those words, six of them, are found in verse fifteen. “My times are in thy hand.” Are we willing to place our times in His capable hands? Even as we say yes to that question a battle begins between our flesh and our spirit, between the Holy Spirit of God and Satan. One trying to pull us away from our God and trusting in Him, the other with an open invitation to “Come unto me”. In order for us as believers in Christ to live by those six words will demand courage and strength. (Verse twenty four.) That courage may have to come from within but the strength will come from above. Remember the message that Joshua heard. (Josh 1:9 Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.) That message is for you and me as well as we get ready to navigate a New Year. Ps 31:15 will be my verse for 2023 and I pray even today that God grant the strength to walk in those six words each and every day.
