Some more thoughts on giving thanks in every thing. This is at times a command difficult to obey but there are some things that will help us give thanks in every thing. A look back at what God has done for us will help us give thanks in every thing. Because of past experiences we know our God is with us and will deliver us. A look ahead will help us give thanks in every thing. As believers in Christ this world is not our home and we look ahead to a time when every tear will be whipped away and there will be no more sorrow or pain, to a time when the former things are passed away. Look behind and ahead dear Christian. But we can also give thanks for every thing when we know we are in the will of God. That does not mean we will understand every thing, or that all things will for the present seem to be good. But it does mean God has a will for our lives and that will is good, perfect and acceptable. Joseph surly did not understand the will of God on his way to Egypt but he learned that God’s will was good, perfect and acceptable. Daniel surly did not understand the will of God on his way to Babylon but he learned that God’s will was good, perfect and acceptable. We may not understand the will of God as it unfolds in our lives but if we stay faithful and give thanks we will learn that God’s will is always good, perfect and acceptable. Another reason we can give thanks in every thing.
