Ps 27:1-4 The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
2 When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.
3 Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident.
4 One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in his temple.
KJV
What is your desire today? David knew God could give him the desire of his heart. (Ps 37:4
Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.) So what is it that David would desire, what did David want more than anything else? A close walk with the Lord. (One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in his temple.) In David’s life it was only when that desire changed that he found trouble and sorrow. What is the desire of your heart today? For many who profess to know Jesus Christ as their savior the desire of the heart is not what it needs to be to find the peace and joy that they need. Nothing in this world can bring to us what Jesus can. Not wealth, not fame, not family, nothing can bring to us what Jesus can. The first step is to know Jesus as savior, to repent of sin and trust Jesus and Jesus alone for eternal salvation. Then our heart needs to be fixed on Him. What is the desire of your heart today? David found that when his desire was fixed on the Lord then so many other blessings were poured out on Him as well.
