4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

Great is the strength we can receive when we are given to the Word of God, to the bread of life. Consider Elijah. (1 Kings 19:7-8 And the angel of the Lord came again the second time, and touched him, and said, Arise and eat; because the journey is too great for thee. 8 And he arose, and did eat and drink, and went in the strength of that meat forty days and forty nights unto Horeb the mount of God.) Elijah was given meat from God and found strength to continue on for the Lord. We need such strength today as we strive to continue on for the Lord in difficult times. Where will that strength come from? Don’t look for ravens to bring you food, for angels to bake cakes for you over an open flame as took place in the life of Elijah. But we can pick up our Bible and take the food that God has provided within. We can read and pray and read and pray and read and pray allowing God to speak to us and taking the time to speak to Him. As we do we begin to find strength for the day and that strength coming from the very bread of life and His Word. Pick up your Bible dear friend and not just when things are difficult but each and every day.
