1 Peter 2:21 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:

Hunting season is fast approaching here where I live. Deer, turkey, bear, small game, some will be in season within a few days and all will be in season at one time or another over the next few months. A big part of hunting can be tracking an animal. Tracks tell you where they have been and where they are going. Above we find that we are to follow in the footsteps of Jesus. Jesus left us the path to follow because he walked the some path. The Bible tells us we should follow in the steps of Jesus. Where then did Jesus walk, what path did Jesus follow? There are several things in this chapter alone. Today note that Jesus followed a path of purity, of sinless living. (1 Peter 2:22 Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:) We as believers in Christ will not reach a state of sinless perfection in this world, while we have our flesh to contend with. But we do not have to give in to sin and temptation so easily as some seem so willing to do. Jesus resisted the devil and his temptations and so can we. (“Get thee behind me, Satan: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but the things that be of men.”) It seems today that few are willing to repeat those words yet the Bible tells us that Satan can be resisted. (James 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.) Why not repeat those words of Jesus and follow this command when you are tempted today? That is the first step in following the footsteps of Jesus and walking apart from sin.
