41 Yea, I will rejoice over them to do them good, and I will plant them in this land assuredly with my whole heart and with my whole soul.

Another reason not to become weary in well doing is that it makes the heart of God rejoice. The covenant spoken of in verse forty above is one that God made with Israel and we need to make note of that. The believer in Christ has NOT replaced Israel. But there has been a covenant made with the believer as well. We have been granted eternal life by Jesus Christ because we have trusted in Him and Him alone to save us. That does bring everlasting life, a life that cannot be lost. We do have that covenant, that agreement. (John 10:27-29 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: 28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. 29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand.) Shouldn’t we then want to please the one who saved us? Shouldn’t we then want to make the heart of God rejoice because we desire to do good? God has given us His whole heart through the gift of Jesus Christ and eternal life for those who believe and are born again. Is it too much to for us to do good in return? Why not through the power of God within do good for Him today?
