? Our feet shall stand Within thy gates, O Jerusalem.
? Jerusalem is builded As a city that is compact together:
? Whither the tribes go up, the tribes of the Lord, Unto the testimony of Israel, To give thanks unto the name of the Lord.
? For there are set thrones of judgment, The thrones of the house of David.
? Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: They shall prosper that love thee.
? Peace be within thy walls, And prosperity within thy palaces.
? For my brethren and companions’ sakes, I will now say, Peace be within thee.
? Because of the house of the Lord our God I will seek thy good.
Why was David glad to go to the house of the Lord? We saw that church is a place where good things happen and good decisions are made.
Now we see that Church is a place of stability. (Verse 2) Where can you go in this world, to what place and find that the standards have never changed, the rules if you would have never been revised, things are the same as they were yesterday and will be forever? I do not mean that things never change in a local church. People come and go, pastors come and go, some go home to be with the Lord, children grow up and so on. But the Word of God never changes. We can go to a good Bible believing church and find that stability for our soul. Find the answers that we need, find that rock, that eternal rock that never changes. We can find stability for the soul in the house of God. That ought to make one glad.
