September 8th, 2022 by Pastor SolleyJer 33:1-7 Moreover the word of the Lord came unto Jeremiah the second time, while he was yet shut up in the court of the prison, saying,
2 Thus saith the Lord the maker thereof, the Lord that formed it, to establish it; the Lord is his name;
3 Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.
KJV
One of the great invitations to prayer found in the Old Testament is in verse three above. It is an invitation that I often recall today for it is an invitation to every child of God and not just to the nation of Israel. It is also an invitation that those who received it ignored for the most part. Ever wonder why? Perhaps they did not truly believe the promises of God. Or perhaps they thought their problems were too big for God. Or was it that they thought they had strength to overcome within? Perhaps for the very same reasons we seldom pray as we ought today. Perhaps for the very same reasons we see little answers to our prayers today. Christian, this promise is for you and it is for me today and that being true we need to pray today. We need to lay our burdens at His feet, to place them in His capable hands. When we do that we begin to see great and mighty things. God promises not only to hear but to answer our prayers. Why not then pray as we should?
