1 John 3:1 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.
1 John 3:22-23 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.
23 And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.
KJV
This manner of love bestowed upon the born again believer in Christ produces in that believer a confidence in prayer. (Verse 22) Have you ever stopped and counted all the things that you ask of God in prayer day after day? I do stop from time to time and count the many things I am asking for and that number grows and grows. Why would God grant even one of those things to me or you? Because He loves us and we in return love Him. His love change us, molds us, shapes us and also gives us confidence to ask anything of Him. But it is also a restraining love in prayer. If I truly love the Lord would I then ask something of Him that I know is not pleasing in His sight? Would I ask something of Him that would move me or another away from His will? Even our prayers are shaped and molded by the love of God. In a few moments I will go to prayer and I will ask many things of my God. May those requests be molded and shaped by His love for me. When they are we can rest assured that they will be answered.
