1 John 3:1-2 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.
2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
KJV
Behold, what manner of love. Behold, look, see, turn your attention to. That is a call to look at something that should hold us, draw us to it. Look, see, turn your attention to. But to what? The manner of love bestowed or poured out upon, given to another. I was thinking last evening before turning in of all the ones God has given me to love. My wife, my children, my grandchildren, my church family and so on. Most all that we love in this life we have reason to love. My wife for how much she loves me. My children because they are mine. My grandchildren because they are so precious and love as only grandchildren can. My church family because of how they love and support us, stand with us as we try and serve the Lord. Most all that we love we love because we have reason to love. But why would Jesus love us so much? We were not born sons of God, we were born enemies of God. We were part of the ones who knew not God. Yet God loves us so much, loves all so much that Jesus His Son came into this world to die for us so we might receive Him as our personal savior. No wonder the Bible tells us to behold the manner of love. No one has ever or will ever love you as much as Jesus does. Why not spend some time today in meditation of the manner of love we are to behold. Behold, what manner of love.
