In this frenzied world that we live in it is easy for us to try and run past God as we face the many different problems of life. We always want things done right away. Drive through fast food, drive through banks, curb side pick up, next day delivery, we demand immediate response. This becomes a danger as we bring things before the Lord and want the same type of response. A danger because in our minds we think God has forsaken or forgotten about us or even that our God does not care because the response to our prayers is not immediate. But Moses command the people to stand still and see. That command, to stand still, is repeated six times in the Old Testament and as it is used it points out the importance of waiting on the Lord. While it may be true our God does not seem to move on our timetable it is also true that our God is never late. God has promised to hear and to act, but always in His time and according to His will. We need to learn again and again to stand still and see. That phrase is found only one time in the New Testament and it deals with a man coming to salvation in Christ in Acts eight. If I can trust my Savior with my soul I can also trust Him enough to stand still and see. We need to learn to wait upon the Lord.
