July 15th, 2022 by Pastor Solley1 Peter 5:6-10 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:
7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
9 Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.
10 But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.

The blessing and reward of remaining humble before God, of submitting to the authority of God, of casting all care and worry upon God, of being watchful and resisting the devil is found in verse ten. ( But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.) We will be made perfect, established, strengthened and settle by the Lord. But most of us have a difficult time waiting on the Lord. Notice the phrase “A while” in verse ten. It means a period of time. It could be short or it could be long, but it points to a period of time. Be patient dear Christian, be patient and wait on the Lord. When we try and run ahead of the Lord is when we fall once again to the attack of Satan. Be steadfast, be sober, be true, but be patient as well. I have a hard time waiting on the Lord so I need always be on guard and depend upon the truth of verse ten.
