Daily Devotions
October 5th, 2010 by Pastor Solley1 Kings 19:8 And he arose, and did eat and drink, and went in the strength of that meat forty days and forty nights unto Horeb the mount of God.
9 And he came thither unto a cave, and lodged there; and, behold, the word of the LORD came to him, and he said unto him, What doest thou here, Elijah? 10 And he said, I have been very jealous for the LORD God of hosts: for the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away.It may be that we need the strength of God to go on in our daily walk. That we need the strength of God to get through a trial. That we need the strength of God just to get up in the morning. Fear not for the strength of God is ours if we just turn to Him. Elijah was able to go on the strength of God for forty day. In other words God’s strength met his need. God’s strength will meet ours as well, yours and mine if we but rely on Him. One problem we have is that we often let the trials of live over shadow the strength of God. Look to Him in those times of darkness and despair and you will find strength to go on.
