Isa 40:30-31 Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:
31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
KJV
These two verses show clearly the futility of trying to do anything on our own, anything apart from the Lord. “Even the youths shall faint”. This points to the strength and energy of the young. The “Young men” points to selected ones. Those who are young and strong, fit for a fight, those who have been selected for the task at hand, even those ones shall become faint and weary. Ultimately they will fail and fall the Bible tells us. So where to find the strength for the day? How can one gain victory over this world? “But they that wait upon the Lord”. It begins with standing with the Lord, waiting on Him. Saul was chosen to be king and accepted by the people because he was bigger and stronger than most. (1 Sam 9:2 And he had a son, whose name was Saul, a choice young man, and a goodly: and there was not among the children of Israel a goodlier person than he: from his shoulders and upward he was higher than any of the people.) He was a youth and a selected one. But he did not stand up to the test and a shepherd boy had to deliver Israel from the Philistines. What was the difference between David and Saul? One was standing in his own strength and one was waiting on the Lord. What are you doing today?
