May 25th, 2022 by Pastor SolleyJosh 4:5-7 And Joshua said unto them, Pass over before the ark of the Lord your God into the midst of Jordan, and take ye up every man of you a stone upon his shoulder, according unto the number of the tribes of the children of Israel:
6 That this may be a sign among you, that when your children ask their fathers in time to come, saying, What mean ye by these stones?
7 Then ye shall answer them, That the waters of Jordan were cut off before the ark of the covenant of the Lord; when it passed over Jordan, the waters of Jordan were cut off: and these stones shall be for a memorial unto the children of Israel for ever.

Israel was passing from old life to new life, passing into the Promised Land and they were to leave a memorial. (Verse 7) This was NOT so they would continue to look back at the old way, at the old life. The times they did that in the wilderness only took them into trouble. But it was so they would remember that life with the Lord is always better than life apart from Him. God had delivered them from bondage, led them through wilderness, and now would place them in that longed for Promised Land. They were to remember as we are today what the Lord has done for us in bringing us out of the bondage of sin, placing us in Christ, in His family, and the better life we have in Christ. Never look back at the world with wishful thoughts. Never allow Satan to place in your mind, even for just a moment, that life was somehow better without Jesus. Always remember what Christ has done for us in salvation and that even now in this world we can be walking in the Promised Land with Him. Remember, and remember that life is always better with Jesus.
