This is a very powerful statement to make, that the believer in Christ Jesus is “Complete in Him”. All that we ever need we now have in Jesus Christ. Think of that for a moment. Nothing needs to be added to salvation in Christ. No second blessing, no waiting for gifts, nothing needs to be added. We need to grow in the Lord of course, but we have all that we need. Just like a baby when it is born has all that it needs for life so does the Christian. No missing parts need to be added later on. The baby needs food and we have the Word of God to feed upon. A baby needs protection and we have Jesus to watch over us and provide for us. A baby needs direction and we have the Holy Spirit within. We are complete in Christ. That also means that all that is Christ is available to us if we are willing to be given to Him. The very power of God, the wisdom of God, the love of God, the forgiveness of God, all available to us as we are given to Him. There is a beautiful song “Complete in Thee” which looks forward to our standing in heaven with Christ. But we can be and are complete in Christ Jesus now and if we would just give all of self to Him. That then could then be seen by others and perhaps they would want Jesus as well.
