May 13th, 2022 by Pastor SolleyLuke 11:1-4 And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.
2 And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.
3 Give us day by day our daily bread.
4 And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.
KJV
Prayer needs that relationship between man and God through Jesus Christ, we need to know God as our Father. That relationship needs to be a close and intimate one as we noted yesterday. Prayer must also include acknowledgment. “Our Father which art in heaven”. Our Father is above us, not only in directions as heaven is up, but in authority. In a normal family setting the parents have authority over the children. That seems to have changed in our society, but it is not right and it is not God’s plan for the family. Children are to obey and honor their parents because the parent has authority over the child. God has authority over His children as well. We are not to demand of God, order God, insist that God does all things our way. That is a spoiled child. Many things I was denied as I was growing up because I did not ask for them in the right way. I wonder at times how many of my prayers have been hindered because I did not ask in the right way. For prayer to be effective it must include acknowledgment. God is still on the throne and not us.
