27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

So many today seem to be having a hard time finding the peace that Jesus promised. Why? Could it be that they search for that peace in all the wrong places? Notice the peace that Jesus promised is NOT the peace the world offers. (Verse 27) The world claims peace will come when all troubles are gone, when the bank account is full, when you have all the toys you want, and so on and so forth. But Jesus told us that in this world will we have tribulation and trouble. (John 16:33
These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.) Jesus, the King of kings, lived in poverty in this world. Jesus was betrayed by one close to Him, denied by one even closer, and hung on the cross by His own. Jesus had more troubles than all others combined. Yet there was and is a promise of peace. True peace comes with a relationship with Christ and with the Holy Spirit residing within. Apart from those things peace in only fleeting. What type of peace do you want today? When it is peace with God through Christ there becomes no need to fear the trials and troubles of this world.
