2 For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.
3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
KJV
Who was it that put Jesus on that cross, who was responsible? In our society today it seems no one wants to take responsibility for anything from the very top to the bottom. The criminal is never at fault for his crime. The government never at fault for poor decisions. The sinner never at fault for his sin. Who was responsible for placing Jesus on that cross. Was it the Jewish people who rejected Him? Was it Rome which carried out the execution? Was it God as we read in
Isa 53:10 (Isa 53:10 Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in his hand.) Who was responsible? What part do those that He willingly died for play in this? The greater part. (Isa 53:5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.) I am responsible for placing Jesus on that cross because He died for me. When will we take responsibility? That is the very first step in salvation, taking responsibility. When I admitted I was a sinner in need of a savior is when I could look at that cross and know He died for me. Then I could make a decision, do I want to receive Him as my personal savior, do I want to repent and turn to Jesus Christ, do I want to see the only way to heaven and ask Him to save me? That answer many years ago was yes. What is your answer today? Yes, you along with me, we placed Jesus on that cross because of our sin. Now is the time to take responsibility and look at that cross and receive Him as your savior.
