Mark 11:22-26 And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.
23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.
24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
25 And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.
26 But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.
KJV
As I read the Bible I find that some of the most encouraging discourses given by Jesus, in times when they are needed the most, begin with a very simple statement. Here Jesus is going to give some truth about prayer and answered prayer. Prayer can move mountains according to verse twenty three above. We can have the desires of our heart according to verse twenty four. (Of course we know that those desires must be an accordance to the will of God.) But notice what Jesus says as He begins to teach once more about prayer. “Have faith in God.” Four words, “Have faith in God.” Those men would move mountains, they would change the world. Even those who opposed them admitted in Acts 17:6 “These that have turned the world upside down are come hither also;” I want to look at these words concerning prayer over the next few days but we must begin with those four important words “Have faith in God.” Where is your faith placed this morning? Even many who do know Jesus as their savior have a difficult time placing all in His capable hands day by day. Remember Jesus is talking to those who did believe upon Him, they were saved as we would say, they were born again. They left all to serve Jesus, they had faith. But Jesus begins by telling them “Have faith in God.” What are you willing to put your faith in today and who you need to put your faith in are two different things. Are you willing to turn every part of your live over to Him having faith that He can do all things and does all things well. That is the question for today and depending upon how we answer that question determines if we will see the greatness in prayer that comes in the following verses.
