Ps 91:1-3 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.
3 Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.
KJV
What is a snare? At that time a trap for a bird. A snare today is often a noose or loop made of a wire cord. It is set on a path an animal would normally take or a path that is baited. It can be hung over the path so the animal would run its head through the snare and then be caught around the neck or it can be canceled on the ground so an animal or a bird might step in it. Either way when the animal is caught in a snare the harder it tries to escape the tighter the snare gets and the animal will hang itself or make the snare so tight that it is impossible to get loose. Snares are illegal to use for hunting or trapping in our state, but Satan uses them often and very effectively. Placed on a path we often take we can look past the snare of sin Satan places before us and make a foolish step. Or on a path that is baited for us and we look away from the good and right path we are on for just a moment and we again make a foolish step. What often happens to us spiritually is what happens to an animal or bird in a snare. We try and get out by ourselves and the snare tightens. We try again and the snare tightens more. Soon the snare is so tight that one just gives up and the spiritual fall is complete. That is what happened to David as Satan placed a snare on a familiar path and David was caught. As David tried to get free the snare tightened more and more. The more David tried to free himself the tighter the snare became. The Lord would be David’s deliverance as He is ours today. But we don’t have to make the misstep, we don’t have to be caught in Satan’s snare. My Bible says He shall deliver and if we walk with the Lord as we see in verses one and two above we never have to try and get out of a snare. More tomorrow on Satan’s snares.
