2 I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.
3 Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.
4 He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.

Now that I find access to the secret place through the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ I find a place of shelter from the storms of life. The Hebrew word for secret place means a place of covering, a place of protection. It was a word the Psalmist was very familiar with when the storms of life were raging around him. Think of a hard rain storm today, a soaking, cold rain, a time when we need shelter. The storm continues but we have found a place of warmth, a place to stay dry, a place where we are safe from the wind and rain. Jesus is our hiding place, our place of covering and protection. The storm may continue for a time but we are safe and sound in Jesus, we have found our fortress and refuge in Him. We also know the storm will pass and we will be delivered from it. I often watch from the warmth of our home the storms outside. Today it is snow but our home is warm and dry. Tomorrow it may be wind and rain but our home will be warm and dry. The storms of life are the same when we go to our secret place with Jesus. They continue for a time but we can be warm and dry in the Lord, we can be covered and protected in Jesus Christ. I find it puzzling that so many who claim to know Jesus turn away from Him when the storms of life arise. I wonder if those same ones leave a place of shelter and run out into the thunder and lightening storms when they arise?
