Lev 25:10-13 And ye shall hallow the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof: it shall be a jubilee unto you; and ye shall return every man unto his possession, and ye shall return every man unto his family.
11 A jubilee shall that fiftieth year be unto you: ye shall not sow, neither reap that which groweth of itself in it, nor gather the grapes in it of thy vine undressed.
12 For it is the jubilee; it shall be holy unto you: ye shall eat the increase thereof out of the field.
13 In the year of this jubilee ye shall return every man unto his possession.
KJV
The year of jubilee served as a new beginning for Israel in the Old Testament. Every fifty years property sold, borrowed upon, lost by some other means was returned to the owners, those first deeded the land. It was a new beginning. We often look at a New Year as a new beginning. Time to start anew and afresh what was left undone from the previous year, time to do things in a better way and so on and so forth. Now how can we make 2022 a new beginning? Could we begin to spend more time in the Word of God and in prayer than we do on social media? Could we determine to bring more energy and life to our churches by being more involved? Could we talk to people about the Lord, be a better witness in this coming year? In how many ways could we make this new Year a better year? When we answer that question and then take action we begin to make 2022 a year of jubilee.
