December 13th, 2021 by Pastor Solley2 Tim 1:6-7 Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.
7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
KJV
The Bible tells us to stir up the gift of God. The word means to cause to flourish, to put to use again. It is as if that gift had not been used for a time and now to put it to use again. With Christmas approaching and the way we celebrate Christmas here my mind is moving toward Christmas gifts not used. There are many things I have received and given over the years that were never put to use as I am sure is true of many. But that should not be the case with things we have been given by the Lord. Consider what has been given the believer in Christ in verse seven and how so many today seem to be forgetting they have this gift from God. So many today are being overtaken by fear and often a manufactured fear. Satan can render the Christian helpless and hopeless with the use of fear. That happened with Elijah as he fled from Jezebel. What of the servant of Elisha who gave up all hope because of fear? Yet the Lord sustained and delivered them when they put fear aside and looked to the Lord. The dangers of our day are real and not imagined. But do they go beyond the power of our God? Center you mind today on the power of God, on the way God protects and provides for His children, be in prayer today for the power of God to be real in your life, ask for the fear to be taken away and the gift of a sound mind to be realized in your life. Stir up the gift of a sound mind and see the fear disappear.
