13 And he goeth up into a mountain, and calleth unto him whom he would: and they came unto him.
14 And he ordained twelve, that they should be with him, and that he might send them forth to preach,
15 And to have power to heal sicknesses, and to cast out devils:What a wonderful thing it must have been to have been called up into the mountain with Jesus. To be set apart and given power to serve and to preach. Jesus set these 12 apart. Yet are we not set apart by Jesus Christ today to serve Him in this world? To be witnesses for Him and to preach in His name. We are set apart as well yet how many never walk to the top of the mountain with Jesus. It must have taken at least some effort on their part to get there. It is called a mountain so there must have been a climb. Perhaps rocks to climb over or around, a narrow trail to follow and so on. It must have taken some effort on their part. If you wonder why so few seem to be called to the mountain top today might it be because so few will make any effort at all. Is Jesus the first you talked to or will talk to today? Will you read and meditate upon His Word? Will you be in constant communion with Him today? Will you make an effort to walk to the mountain and then to climb to greater heights? If not then no complaint that Jesus seems so far away.
