December 2nd, 2021 by Pastor SolleyRom 12:1-2 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
KJV
With thoughts turned to Christmas and giving my mind has been turned to the question of what is reasonable for me to give to Christ? In order to determine that I need to determine what Jesus has given to me which we have been looking at this week. So let me ask again today, was it reasonable for Jesus to allow Himself to be spit upon? (Mark 14:65 And some began to spit on him, and to cover his face, and to buffet him, and to say unto him, Prophesy: and the servants did strike him with the palms of their hands.) Was it reasonable for Jesus to allow the mob to beat Him, to falsely accuse Him? Was it reasonable for Jesus to go to a cross for the very ones He came to seek and to save while at the same time they rejected Him and called for the release of a know criminal who was condemned to death? Were those things reasonable when Jesus could have at any time called for an army of angels to set Him free and destroy mankind? (Matt 26:53
Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels?) In my mind none of those things were reasonable, yet Jesus did all of those things for me. As I determine what is reasonable for me to give to Jesus I need to see how many things Jesus has done for me that go beyond what I would call reasonable. Tomorrow, our reasonable gift to Him.
