33:1 Moreover the word of the LORD came unto Jeremiah the second time, while he was yet shut up in the court of the prison, saying,
2 Thus saith the LORD the maker thereof, the LORD that formed it, to establish it; the LORD is his name;
3 Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.There is the thought in verse 3 that God has things reserved for us that we do not know, things God wants to give us that we cannot imagine, things reserved for us, and God is waiting for us to call out to Him in order to do these mighty works. One might wonder why God wouldn’t just give them to us if they are reserved for us? The answer lies in God wanting us to call out to Him, to depend upon Him, to trust in Him. God could give us everything all at once but I fear we would become like the prodigal son, take our living and waste it with little or no thought to the Lord and the things of the Lord. Think of that passage, the prodigal son, in line with this promise in Jer 33:3. Perhaps there is good reason God doesn’t give us everything at once, perhaps there is good reason God waits for us to call upon Him.
