Jer 15:16 Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O Lord God of hosts.
KJV
Jeremiah is known as the weeping prophet and that man of God had many difficult times and trials, he did shed many tears. Yet the Bible says that he also had joy and rejoicing in his heart. What was it that brought the prophet joy and rejoicing as his country was falling apart, as they were turning away from the Lord, as the message the Lord gave him was rejected and as he was being persecuted? It was the Word and Words of God. “Thy words were found” refers to God’s Word already given. Jeremiah feasted on the Word of God. “Thy word” can refer to the Word of God given to Jeremiah. God had spoken in the past and Jeremiah took in those words, God was speaking to him and Jeremiah took in that word as well. What can bring us as believers in Christ joy and rejoicing today? The same Word that brought joy and rejoicing to Jeremiah. How many times do you dear one feast on the Word of God as Jeremiah did? How many times do you see the Word of God as God speaking to you as Jeremiah did? How much do you search for something from God each day in His Word? How little you are given to these things or how much will go a long way in determining how little or how much joy and rejoicing you have today.
