And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light.
And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him.
Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.
While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.

Peter was one who was quick to act and quick to speak and at times that got him into trouble but Peter says something here that we ought to pay attention to. “It is good for us to be here”. It is always good to spend time apart and alone with Jesus. I am sure that Peter, James and John wondered why Jesus took them apart from the others, why the trek up into the mountain? Then as they were alone with Jesus they were given a glimpse of the glory of God, the glory that Jesus set aside for a time. I am sure that none of those men ever lost the image of the glorified Christ. That would be an image that would keep them on a steady and sure course as they served Christ the rest of their lives. It is an image we need see today and one we can see as we spend time apart and alone with Jesus each day. We will not be taken by Jesus to a literal mountain top as they were but we can stand on a spiritual mountain top with Jesus just as they did. Then we can echo those words of Peter. “It is good for us to be here”. Spend some time with Jesus today.
