Daily Devotions

1 Tim 4:8-98 For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.
9 This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation.

Today as a nation we stop and celebrate work. I find this amusing in that our well fare system is jammed with people able to work yet we continue to give them an undeserved handout. I do believe we should help those in need, those who cannot work, those who have lost jobs and cannot find another and so on. But we all know how people play the system and we all know people who would rather be on assistance that work. I wonder it they celebrate this day as well.
Then I think of the above Bible verse and wonder how God feels when He has to carry us if you would. How God feels when we don’t do our part for Him, when we put forth no, or very little spiritual effort. Are you working towards Godliness? Should this be a day that you take off to celebrate your efforts for the Lord. Or does God look at us and wonder what we are celebrating?
