Then the earth shook and trembled; the foundations also of the hills moved and were shaken, because he was wroth.
There went up a smoke out of his nostrils, and fire out of his mouth devoured: coals were kindled by it.
He bowed the heavens also, and came down: and darkness was under his feet.
And he rode upon a cherub, and did fly: yea, he did fly upon the wings of the wind.

There are different times recorded in the Bible when God came down to talk to men. God came down and talked with Abraham, with Moses, with Elijah and with others. Here in this Psalm God comes down to meet with David. But here we see God flying down to David in verse ten. The idea is that God came swiftly riding on the wings of the wind. This is important because David had called out to God for help as he was in danger, as one was trying to kill him. David had men with him, could have put up a fight, perhaps could have been victorious on his own. But David cried out to the Lord in distress and what was the answer he received? God came on the wings of the wind. What a blessed thought, what a comforting truth, what a path to victory over the enemy is set before us in this Psalm. In distress where do you turn? In physical need where do you turn? In times when there is so much stress from so many trials where do you turn? We can turn to family for support, to friends for advice, to doctors for medication and all those things we should do. But we need first turn to the Lord Jesus Christ for He is the one that is going to come to us on the very wings of the wind. I have different doctor appointments for different things, some months away. But I also have one I can call on this day who will fly to my aid. David knew where to turn in distress, do you?
